A Plasma cutting machine….? What is it ?
We were surprised when one of our friend who owns a fairly large metal Fabrication Workshop asked such a question when we were trying pursue him to buy a Plasma Cutting machine for his Workshop. It shows the sad state of lack of awareness about modern techniques which could have enhanced their production, had they switched to this technology years before…
Then we explained him about this wonderful machine..
Metal cutting can be categorised into two – mechanical and thermal cutting. Plasma cutting is a thermal cutting method where ionised gas is used for cutting the metal. Plasma Cutting is a profile cutting technique which can cut through any conductive metal. This includes metals like steel, aluminium, brass, titanium and copper.
The machine cuts through electrically conductive materials by means of an accelerated jet of hot plasma. Typical materials cut with a plasma torch include steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass and copper. Plasma cutting is often used in fabrication shops, automotive repair and restoration, industrial construction, and salvage and scrapping operations. Due to the high speed and precision this method is used in a wide spectrum of avenues.
He was convinced with our explanation and ordered a machine from us. We delivered installed and commissioned this complex piece of high precision machine to him in May 2019. The decision to switch to plasma cutting machine was a timely wise decision taken by their management because apart from bringing the precision in metal cutting, it also saves time with its speed.
